Call for Panels
The Future Places festival will host a day of panels on Friday, October 10 welcoming
academics, artists, and industry professionals to comment and debate
on a variety of current digital media practices and issues.
Panels are
intended to be interactive and will have a roundtable format.
Prospective panelists are asked to submit brief proposals of
approximately 100 words to DMpanels@utaustinportugal.org by July 31.
Panel proposals should list the primary topic and names of panel
participants, as well as brief biographies of each panel member.
Individual proposals and proposals of complete panels will be
considered. If accepted, panels will be scheduled for morning or
afternoon sessions on Friday, October 10. Accepted panels will be
notified by August 15 and must commit to appearing at the Future
Places festival by August 31.
The Future Places festival will celebrate digital media produced in
Portugal and around the world, featuring web, digital video and
installation art work as well as electronic music, 3D graphics, cell
phone art and productions related to locative media, games, and hybrid
realities. Future Places is intended to showcase artistic, industrial,
and academic perspectives on digital media through juried competition,
screenings, performances, and talks.
The topics listed below are suggestions; panelists are welcome to
propose alternative topics.
